Uyghur Voice Recording Project Reaches 501 Hours on Mozilla Common Voice

The Mozilla Common Voice Uyghur project has reached a key milestone: 501 hours of recorded speech, with 88% validated. This achievement was made possible by the dedication of 1,822 contributors around the world.

The goal is to reach 1,000 hours of validated recordings to ensure high-quality results for AI systems such as speech recognition, voice assistants, and educational tools.

We are halfway to our target. Every contribution brings us closer to making Uyghur fully represented in the digital era,” project organizers stated.

Call to Action

  • Uyghur speakers can contribute by reading sentences aloud or validating existing recordings at Common Voice.
  • Supporters with limited time can help financially through donations to sustain the project.

This effort is not only about technology — it is about ensuring that Uyghur remains a living, thriving language in the age of artificial intelligence.
